In this course you will examine why Extensible Markup Language (XML) is an important evolutionary step in information exchange because it is a system that allows development of open, nonproprietary markup languages. You will also examine problems encountered when using HTML to manipulate data in ways that it was not designed to and how these problems are solved using XML. In addition, you will examine how XML can be used to overcome many of the problems encountered when moving data between incompatible, proprietary systems.
